I'll have plenty to share with you over the next few weeks starting with this week's summary and review of the resort. Also this week, I ventured to my local park to check out the Halloween hoopla. Disney's Real Polynesian Resort Aulani, Disney's posh new resort on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, is something of a departure -- a delightful departure -- for the Mouse House. It's a resort with no theme park attached. The hotel is the destination. That doesn't mean it isn't filled with Disney whimsy and storytelling. While it can't compare to huge-budget presentations like Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights, the small park's Screemfest nonetheless offers plenty of holiday fear with roaming characters, loads of decorations, and five walk-through mazes. The Florida resort didn't have a blowout celebration planned (as it did for its 25th anniversary or as Disneyland did for its 50th birthday bash), but it did present a special character-packed parade, a sing-along stage show, and an anniversary-themed fireworks show.
