From Kyle Phillips, your Guide to Italian Food
It's still unusually hot, so after it cooled off some this afternoon we went to Brozzi, a town outside Florence, for the Festa Mediovale, which was fun -- a guy showed us how to light a fire with flint and steel, there were people on stilts who worried the dog, and we came across a stand serving roventini, which are savory pancakes made with pig's blood.
Very traditional (this was a Medieval Fest), and quite hard to find, because pig's blood is hard to come by. In fact, wife E had never tried one. They were served topped with grated cheese between slices of bread, and reminded me vaguely of scrapple, one of the breakfast meats I miss from when I lived in the US.
