| | Autumn brings along its own kind of party fun. Cozy colors, comfort food, hot beverages and warm friendships are the joys of this season. Have an Entertaining week! | | Host a Harvest Day Party Some schools organize a Harvest Day Party instead of (or in addition to) a Halloween party. If you're a room parent or teacher looking to plan one of these events, there are lots of fun activities that will keep your kids busy and having fun. | Say Goodbye to the Housewives with a Viewing Party It's the last season of the ABC series "Desperate Housewives". I've been a longtime fan of the show, so last night was a bittersweet season premiere. The ladies of Wisteria Lane are still up to their desperate tricks, and it will be interesting to see how they leave us at the end. Hosting a "Desperate Housewives" viewing party would be a fitting tribute to their final days. | Celebrate a Sweet New Year on Rosh Hashanah Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins tonight. It's a chance for another fresh start that comes just as the newness of the school year begins to wear off. My Jewish friends will celebrate by attending religious services, but my favorite part is the food traditions which involve honey and other sweet ingredients to represent wishes for a sweet New Year. | Host a Pirate Party The official "Talk Like a Pirate Day" was last Monday. I can't believe I almost missed the chance to torture my kids with my "arrrghs" at the end of every sentence. But I believe there's still time to celebrate that holiday with a Pirate Theme Party. Plus, it gives us a good excuse to whip up a little rum punch and wear stripes. A pirate theme party would also be a great theme for your Halloween Party this year. | | | | Entertaining Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Essential Medical Tests for Women For women, certain medical tests and health screenings are recommended on a yearly basis.
