From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
Most cities are fascinating because they offer visitors interesting history, culture, arts, or scenic areas. However, some are just magical when you sail into or away from them because of their dramatic setting. These dozen are my favorites.

Best Sailaway Ports
Be sure to be out on deck as you sail into or away from these ports of call. They all provide wonderful memories (and photos).

Venice, Italy
Sailing away from Venice on a mega-ship gives you a wonderful look at St. Mark's Square, the Grand Canal, and much of the city.

Santorini, Greece
Memories of Santorini--Sailing into an ancient volcanic caldera, surrounded by towering cliffs topped with white-washed villages. It's a perfect cruise memory!

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Sugarloaf. Statue of Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain. Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Cruise travelers can see them all as they approach Rio de Janeiro.
