Fun Places To Go

From Teresa Plowright, your Guide to Family Vacations
Here we are, just mid-July, and I'm already receiving news from theme parks and other destinations about Halloween. The whole month of October is now packed with Halloween events and many places hope to attract a bumper crop of visitors during fall... Read more, below. Meanwhile, turning attention back to summer: check out an amazing set of fun things to do in Colorado in summer-time.

Colorado: Fun Things to Do in Summer
Most of us think of Colorado as a winter destination with famous ski resorts. But there are good reasons that Denver locals drive to the mountains and rivers in summer months: reasons such as whitewater rafting, river kayaking, ziplining across a rushing river, swimming in a giant hot springs pool, playing in a giant artificial wave in a river park... Read about these and more fun things to do in Colorado in the Roaring Fork Valley area, around Aspen and Glenwood Springs.

Staycation Tips
If this is a summer when you're sticking close to home, make the most of your "staycation" and enjoy your local area just as much as tourists do. Make sure you break up the normal daily patterns, do day-trips, eat out; if finances permit, maybe even stay in a local hotel so you can have that getaway feeling, at a fraction of the cost of a go-the-distance trip.

Summer Air Travel Tips
Families that opt for a "staycation" can feel smug about avoiding summer air travel. When flights are fully booked, a missed connection can turn into a major mishap: read tips, to hopefully minimize the chances of missed connections and other perils.

Halloween Events
Theme parks, children's museums, aquariums -- you name it, pretty much any attraction that welcomes families is sure to be staging major Halloween themed events. Read about Halloween trains, Halloween parades, Disney Halloween, Halloween at Sesame Place, Hersheypark, and much much more: even though October doesn't have a long weekend in the US, nonetheless plenty of families make their way to destinations for Halloween fun.
