From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
Among regional water parks, Geyser Falls in Choctaw, Mississippi is quite unique. For example, probably because it is part of the Pearl River Resort (which includes casinos, hotels, a spa, and other amenities), it devotes a fair amount of attention to themeing, including the namesake geysers that spout near the front of the park.

A Good Bet in Mississippi Water Parks
In addition to the usual assortment of slides and water attractions, the park offers Clearwater Key, a lush eight-acre oasis of sandy beaches. It also includes a full-service restaurant with live bands. Occasionally, the water park even features national acts performing on its outdoor stage. Read more about Geyser Falls.

Wheelin' and Dealin'

With gasoline hitting $4 per gallon (and higher) in the U.S., parks and other tourism-related businesses are bracing for how it may affect travel spending. Wherever your wheels may be taking you, scoring a deal on park tickets or other savings could take the sting out of higher gas prices. I just updated my Florida Theme Park Deals and California Theme Park Deals pages. Among the latest promotions:

  • Walt Disney World Memories Vacation Package with free dining plan
  • Universal Orlando 2-Park Getaway Package
  • Buy 2 Nights, Get 1 Free at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
  • Disneyland Park Hopper Bonus Tickets
  • SoCal Theme Park Plus Pass

A Hole New Attraction at Universal Orlando
Mini golf never seems to live up to its potential. As the themeing of courses have become more and more elaborate with swashbuckling pirates, exploding volcanoes, and the like, the actual play has become less and less interesting. Most of today's holes are little more than prettified putting greens and don't even include old-school interactive elements such as windmills. That's why Universal Orlando's announcement about the two new mini-golf courses it will be opening in early 2012 has me intrigued. Read more.
