| | I just got back from a New York Spa Association (NYSPA) conference where spa experts said that new spas are going to be smaller and more modest. But there are still plenty of audacious spas out there. Here are three to visit. | | The Age of Audacious Spas is Over Bigger used to be better in American spas. The big resorts and hotels tried to out-size and out-fabulous everyone else. New hotel spas on the drawing books are smaller and more modest. | Miraveau Inn & Spa Mirbeau Inn & Spa in the Finger Lakes, NY, is an unlikely place for a Provence-inspired spa, with fireplaces in most of the 18 treatment rooms. It's an intimate inn and spa, and if you care to detox the Fresh Start Cleansing Retreat is coming up June 19-20. | The Spa at Aria, Las Vegas The 80,000 square-foot Japanese-themed spa on two levels has 62 treatment rooms and has a salt meditation room with "vibration therapy" lounge chairs that synchronize with music, spa suites for eight, and a co-ed spa balcony with a Japanese-style open-air hot bath called a rotenburo. | La Costa Resort & Spa The Spa at La Costa is a village within a village, complete with a 25-foot Bell Tower and outdoor Spa Cafe with a fireplace. In the same complex is the Deepak Chopra Center, with great yoga classes and authentic Ayurvedic treatments. | | | | Spas Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | | Sign up for more free newsletters on your favorite topics | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the About Spas newsletter.
