From Linda Garrison, your Guide to Cruises
The past few weeks, the world has been mesmerized by the protests in Egypt. I'm sure many of us who have traveled there look back fondly on this marvelous country and hope Cairo, Luxor, and the Suez Canal will soon be safe for future travelers.

Pyramids of Giza in Egypt
This week we are looking at only a few of the unique ancient historical sites in Egypt. For many people, Egypt travel is synonymous with the pyramids at Giza.

Great Sphinx at Giza
This 66-foot high symbol of Egypt has the body of a lion and the head of a god. Like the pyramids, it is over 4000 years old, but has been vandalized over the centuries.

Suez Canal
The Suez Canal links the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. It's a flat water canal, with no locks. Cruise ships use the Suez Canal when moving between Europe and Dubai, India, or the Far East.

Valley of the Kings at Luxor
The Valley of the Kings sits in a remote location on the west bank of the Nile. The east bank has the spectacular temples of Karnak and Luxor, but the west bank is where the pharaohs dating back to 1500 BC are buried.
