Chinese New Year

From Rhonda Parkinson, your Guide to Chinese Food
This week's recipes include Sweet and Sour Shrimp, Sweet and Sour Pork, Stir-fry Garlicky Spinach, and a flavorful Dan Dan Sauce to use with pasta or Chinese noodles.
Be sure to check my Chinese Food website for updates throughout the week.

Braised Chicken Rice
In this recipe chicken meat (thighs are good) is coated in a flavorful marinade with Worcestershire sauce and oyster sauce, stir-fried with garlic and ginger, and finally added to cooked rice and left to stand for 15 minutes. Good comfort food and a great way to add extra flavor to the rice!

Dan Dan Sauce
Here is the spicy sauce used to make Szechuan Dan Dan Mian (Dan Dan Noodles). Feel free to use it with either Chinese noodles or pasta.

New Year's Eve Appetizers
Finger foods are a must at any New Years Eve celebration. Here are a number of appetizers that will help make your gathering a success.

Scrambled Eggs With Chives
This strong flavor of classic Chinese garlic chives pairs nicely with egg, although you can use regular chives as well. This dish typically calls for a large quantity of chives - feel free to reduce the amount to 2 or 3 tablespoons and add other seasonings if desired, according to personal taste.
Scrambled Eggs With Chives - a more westernized version, with fewer chives and the addition of sour cream.
