From Tom Nelson, your Guide to Macs
The big news from Apple this week is the availability of the Beatles' music catalog in the iTunes Store. Scoring the Beatles may be a milestone for Apple, but I'm not sure the average Mac user or music lover thinks it's all that significant.

Of more general interest, Apple released OS X 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1.

This week also saw a minor flurry of questions about resizing partitions. Seems quite a few of you formatted your drives into multiple partitions, and have since discovered that one or more partitions are too small for their intended use. This has happened to me many times. Who knew a photo or music collection could get so big? Read on to learn how to resize partitions without losing data.

The Beatles Finally Make Their Way to iTunes
Do you want to know a secret? Apple has acquired the Beatles catalog for the iTunes Store. OK, it's not really a secret, but that's about the only Beatles song title that hasn't been used as a lead-in for this story.

Steve Jobs has wanted the Beatles in iTunes since the day it launched in 2001. Has the long wait been worth it, or are the Beatles so late in coming to the iTunes party that no one, except a few music moguls and Apple, really cares?

Let us know what you think... Read more and leave a comment

Can I Resize a Hard Drive Partition Without Losing Data?
The answer to this question is: most of the time, yes, you can. I say "most of the time" because it depends on the size of your hard drive, how much space is available, where the partition is located, and a few other parameters.

Before you decide to increase or decrease a partition's size, take a look at Add, Delete, and Resize Existing Volumes With Disk Utility
