But while OS X 10.7 may get the lion's share of the attention, we also expect more immediate gratification, such as a new MacBook Air, iLife '11, iWork '11, and maybe a surprise or two. Apple Q4 Results: $20.34 Billion in Revenue Apple continues to be on a roll, with Q4 results that are, at least so far, the best quarter yet for the denizens of the Cupertino Campus. Revenue for the quarter came in at $20.34 billion, with a net quarterly profit of $4.31 billion. During the fiscal 4th quarter, Apple shipped 14.1 million iPhones, a 91 percent uptick in sales over the previous year. iPad sales reached 4.2 million, and the Mac had sales of 3.9 million, up 27 percent year-over-year... Read more A Lion Is Coming to Your Mac; OS X 10.7, That Is Apple sent out press invitations last Wednesday, announcing a "Back to the Mac" event for October 20th. The invite included the usual Apple logo, but this time, the logo had a lion peeking out from behind it. Now, don't expect Lion (OS X 10.7) to be released at this gathering. Apple tends to show a preview of an upcoming major OS X release well ahead of its actual release. Chances are Lion won't be heading out of its corporate den until late summer 2011.
