Fun Places To Go

From Teresa Plowright, your Guide to Family Vacations
Of course we should all be making the best of the last weeks of summer. But take a few minutes to ask yourself: does my family want to go somewhere, in December, where thousands of other families also want to go? If so, you'd best...

Book Now, for the Holiday Season
Yes, it's true: you should be booking now for some of the most popular Holiday Season events, such as Mickey's (specially ticketed) Very Merry Christmas parties (which start early in November at Disney World), or certain sell-out Polar Express train rides.

Corn Mazes
Getting back to real-time, in August... Hundreds of farmers' fields have by now been cut into corn mazes, and typically those farms have extra fun on-site, such as hay rides, animal-petting areas, maybe even a fudge shop. And while it's great to visit these corn mazes in October -- when most places will also have a pumpkin patch open -- summer's a good time too, when the corn field is fresh and green.

Got a Family Travel Blog?
Have a site where you blog about your travels, share your tips, or your best memories, (or maybe a few misery-loves-company-type experiences)? Fill in your info and a bit of background, and we'll put your family blog on our list.

Slumdog Tourism - Opinions?
If you click above, you'll read about -- and find the link for -- an interesting newspaper article that criticizes "slum tourism", i.e. affluent travelers who "tour" poor areas in other countries. Family vacations often take place in countries with much poverty. Typically, a family just wants to relax together at a resort; but sometimes, especially with older kids, they may want to know more of the country-- not just its attractions, but also its reality. So what's the right thing to do? Opinions welcome!
