| | The Norwegian Epic was officially launched earlier this month in New York, and the new ship is now sailing 7-day cruises from Miami to the eastern and western Caribbean. Before she began her regular schedule, I had the chance to sail on her for two days and brought back these first impressions and 180 photos. | | Norwegian Epic Overview It was almost three years from the time the shipyard in France cut the first steel for the Norwegian Epic until her delivery to NCL in mid-June, but the wait was worth it. The ship may be square and boxy on the outside, but she is beautiful and interesting on the inside. NCL has introduced several fascinating innovations, but has also retained many aspects of its popular Freestyle Cruising concept. | Norwegian Epic Cabins The ship has dozens of cabin categories and a variety of layouts. Cabins have curving walls, the sink in the main cabin and the toilet and shower split, lovely decor, and excellent lighting. Affluent guests or those looking for something very special will love the villas complex. | Norwegian Epic Dining The Norwegian Epic has a cuisine to suit every taste, including Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, South American, or just plain American. About half of the restaurants are included in the fare; the others have a surcharge or are a la carte. | Norwegian Epic Entertainment The exciting entertainment onboard the Norwegian Epic is one of her strongest areas. With such brand names as the Blue Man Group, Legends in Concert, Cirque Dreams & Dinner, the Second City Comedy Troupe, and Howl at the Moon Dueling Pianos, you know you are in for a treat.
